Even more information has released today for the upcoming Wii U title Pokkén Tournament. We’ve finally been given an official release date of March 18th, 2016 for both the United States and Europe. The game’s first run in the US will also come with a Shadow Mewtwo amiibo card included, so you can unlock Shadow Mewtwo as soon as you start the game. New support Pokémon have also been confirmed for the game in the form of Sylveon and Croagunk, and Pachirisu and Magikarp.
Some of the game’s modes have also gotten a more in depth explanation. Single battle mode will feature three different difficulty levels and run at a steady 60fps. Local battles will drop the frame rate from 60fps to 30fps, so you’ll have to sacrifice buttery smooth graphics if you want to play with your friends. The game will also feature “Friendly Matches” and “Ranked Matches” in online mode. These modes function similarly to the “For Fun” and “For Glory” modes in Super Smash Bros. Friendly Matches are played for fun with your Wii U friends or random people online while Ranked Matches feature people competing to earn points and achieve the highest rank. New screenshots for the game have also been released, so you can check out a few below.
