If you own a 3ds or Wii U, then you may be familiar with the Virtual Console system.  This system ports older games to the newer hardware, and also allows the ability to create Restore Points.  Restore Points are basically save states you can create while playing a game, and you can return to them if you make a mistake later on.  It appears that the upcoming ports of Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow will not feature the option to make Restore Points despite being Virtual Console titles.  Not only that, but you won’t be able to create save backups for the game either, meaning you can’t make copies of your save data in case it gets deleted.  It’s speculated that the reason these choices were made is because the Pokémon Company is trying to prevent players from using save data and Restore Points to exploit the game and clone Pokémon illegitimately.  Whatever the case, these upcoming ports are definitely going to feel different with this core Virtual Console feature removed.
