If you’ve been following our news reports, then you might remember us talking about how Soleil’s support conversation in Fire Emblem Fates is being removed in its Western release. Well it appears that the game’s Western release is getting even more censorship in the form of its “face petting” feature. This feature allowed players to…uh…well quite frankly “stroke” other character’s faces to built up support points with that character (think Pokémon-Amie but with only being able to pet the character’s face, the game will not permit you to pet any other places). An official quote on the matter can be seen below:
“Yes, that is the case [that petting isn’t in the English version]. You might have heard somewhat misinterpreted or exaggerated information about the Japanese original game, but even in the Japanese original version, we have not included any features which are considered inappropriate in Japan.”
Whatever the case, it’s rather sad to see that even more content is being taken out of this game. It will be interesting to see just how different the Western version of the game is then the Japanese version upon its release.
