This article is coming a bit late, but better late than never. …unless you’re a doctor or bureaucrat.
The Nintendo direct happened 2 weeks ago and there were some mediocre games announced. Not too many people were excited until Bill Trinen decided to say that all of his coworkers were tickled pink and then we got this new Kirby game announced.
Kirby: Planet Robobot is the new Kirby game for the 3DS. This is what is currently known in the story: Planet Popstar is taken over by robotic alien invaders known as Haltmann Works Company and turned into a mechanical world. One of the antagonists is named Susie and she’s extremely cute.
The unique part of Planet Robobot is Kirby’s mech. From current game footage, it looks like there are some levels with enemies in mechs. When the enemy is defeated, Kirby can use the mech a la Return to Dreamland. The mechs can use powered-up versions of copy abilities, called Modes.
We’ve seen 25 copy abilities thus far: All the ones from Triple Deluxe (sans Beetle, Bell, Needle, Sleep, Spear, and Wing), as well as Doctor, ESP, Poison, and the returning Jet and Smash Bros. The modes for Robobot Armor are Beam, Cutter, Fire, Ice, Jet, Parasol, Spark, Stone, Sword, and one more unknown.
Kirby: Planet Robobot is set for release on April 28 in Japan and June 10 everywhere else.
